All hidden from men’s
eyes to see,
There is a house behind a tree.
Out off a corner of your eye,
You’ll see it, as you’re passing by.
But if you stop, and turn your face,
There’s nothing to confront your gaze.
All trees and bushes, grass and moss -
The house alone is at a loss.
And you will think it but a dream -
A trick of light, or fog, or steam.
Then you will shrug, and go your way,
But still you will come back to stay
For each time, as you wander by,
Within the corner of your eye,
There’ll be a house behind a tree,
That’s hidden from men’s eyes to see.
